During the September school holidays Miss Ferguson, Mrs Joyce and Miss Joyce took off on a big plane and headed over to India. We went to a school in a town called Sonepat. The school was called Rishikul Vidyapeeth and it was amazing. It was such a big school, made up of 4 campuses. The campus we stayed at was made up of 5000 students, 1300 of which boarded there.
Students at the school go to classes Monday – Saturday. A bit different to us here at Liddiard Road! They don’t have air conditioners in their classrooms, and many classes don’t have internet. But the students are extremly excited to learn, very respectful and energetic – just like you guys!
Here are some photos for you to look at of Miss Ferguson’s journey to India.
One of the hallways in the junior wing.
Some students showing us their science experiments.
The is the courtyard of the primary wing. Look how tall the building is!
Look at some of the Australian animals they drew!
This is where the prep students went when they needed a break from their learning.
I will post many more photos of my trip to India, but for now I have a job for you.
Complete a venn diagram comparing Rishikul Vidyapeeth to Liddiard Road Primary School. You will need to use your schema and infer for this task.
Meet Google Boy.
He is 5 years and 8 months old (that’s nearly 6 years old). That’s just like many of you in Prep/1f. This boy has got an extraordinary talent.
My questions for you:
1. What do you think his talent is?
2. How do you think he feels being up on stage in front of so many people? Why?
3. What year do you think he is in at school?
Prep/1F are well aware that Miss Ferguson is off to India in the school holidays. She is very excited about this trip, but she is also very nervous.
Miss Ferguson needs to know a bit more about India before she goes and needs your help to calm her nerves Prep/1F!
Help Miss Ferguson out by researching the following information:
– How far away is India?
– What’s the weather going to be like?
– What is there to see in India?
– What are school’s like in India?
This week and next week the prep/1’s are looking at all things desert. We are learning lots about this sometimes hot, sometimes cold habitat.
Follow the link to check out some of our reflections.
When I was your age Prep/1F I really wanted to be a school teacher, I loved the Spice Girls and my favourite movie was Pippi Longstockings. My favourite thing to do in my spare time was play shops or school and I loved spending time with my cat Mog. Now that I’m grown up a few of those things have changed!
I want you to think about yourself. We are going to explore the things that make us happy and the real us!
– What’s your favourite thing to do?
– What movie do you love watching?
– Which band/song is your favourite to sing along to?
– What do you want to be when you’re grown up?
– Name a goal that you have.
I can’t wait to read all about it!
Check out this house…. beware, it’s a bit spooky!
